it is essential that an ethical guidance for doctors and medical students on use of social media address an issue of possible conflicts of interest and commitment.
Improper online activities can potentially damage personal integrity, doctor—patient and doctor—colleague relationships, and future employment opportunities.
Bad, bad, bad representatives of the industry send the networking requests to the naive doctors, who accept it and become open for luring decoys used by Pharma.

British Medical Association (BMA) developed such a guidance prescribing to the doctors and medical students how to behave if you are offered a friendship in Facebook and reveal that it's a pharma representative, your patient or one of colleagues. Alarm!
